Physicians receive ongoing education on proper chart documentation to optimize their reimbursement.  A Certified Professional Coder, trained in Emergency Physician coding will code all charts to assure compliance standards and provide immediate feedback when necessary to imporve reimbursement.  Dedicated support staff are located at each facility to ensure records are audited for completion and are efficiently captured for coding and billing.

  • Essential participation in designing and building several Emergency Departments, working with architectural

designers as well as equipping and setting up the departments.

    • Implemented clinical pathways at Baptist Medical Center, Montgomery covering a broad spectrum of diagnosis.  These were designed to keep the cost of care in consideration, including CHF, Ashma, Stroke, and Chest Pain.
    • Development of an ED Task Force that has achieved significant goals to minimize unnecessary costs and maximize revenues.  this was achieved by correct use of APC coding levels, medical necessity, medical screening exams, on-site cash collections, bedside registration, and discharge processes.
          • Continuing development of Trauma Service
